Sabbath Style & Can Collecting

I don't know about you, but this my month of October has been a roller coaster! Oh, but not just any roller coaster!  This monster from New Jersy's Six Flags:
The ride was closed when I went to NJ's Six Flags so I haven't gone on this giant (I'm not sure I would've gone even if it was open!) but I did get to see it up close, it's huge--a whopping 456 ft tall! So October for me was the upside of Kingda Ka. You go up and up and up and up and the further up you go, the more stressed out you are, and then you finally reach the tippy top, the highest point and you nearly free fall down 456 feet. And then bliss, safety, feelings of "I survived" rush through your veins. That's what Sabbath feels like. Sun down cannot approach fast enough, I just want Jesus to hold me and hug me and say, "It's okay, for the next 24 hours, you're all mine!" I don't know what I would do without the Sabbath, maybe continue to study and drive myself mad? But I do LOVE the thoughtfulness of Christ when he set apart the 7th day for me to rest in His presence. It's not a burden to keep it, it's bliss.
So here's what I did on Sabbath: We heard a powerful message about heroic Christianity versus the Christianity that consumerism has altered. It was a call to be faithful to Jesus regardless of what gets thrown at us. We are His to use for His purposes. My husband played a special music on the flute with piano accompaniment that was lovely. And then we ate a yummy lunch and set out with friends to collect canned goods & non-perishable items for the Twin Cities Food Bank that's running low this year. It was wonderful to be able to know that by offering just a few hours of our time, a family will be able to have something to eat on Thanksgiving. Most people were really wonderful and willing to give us some of their foods. Others said they were busy eating dinner so they couldn't help us right now. Ironic? I think so. Anyways, we know Jesus will multiply this food to bless even more people as he did in his earthly ministry.
I hope you all have a Happy Sunday and a wonderful week to come!
