Simplicity

“Live simply that others might simply live."

Elizabeth Seaton

In 1 Peter 3:3-4 we find this little gem of advice given to us by the Lord. "Your adornment must not be merely external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God." God desires our inner beauty to shine far brighter than our external beauty. Should we then dress in rags, disregard hygiene, and never brush our hair? Absolutely not. Does this mean we cannot braid our hair, wear jewelry, or wear a lovely summer floral dress? Of course not. What God desires of his lovely ladies is for us to dress simply. Like a lily among thorns. First and foremost, the world should see Jesus making His dwelling within us and our wardrobe can be chosen wisely to reflect that purpose.

wool skirt: tjmaxx, shirt: marshalls, wool jacket: marshalls, boots: marshals (anne klein), hat: marshalls

This outfit is almost entirely from sales racks! One important lesson I've learned recently--live simply.

Blessings,
