Ezekiel 36:26I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Have you ever wanted to change someone? Tried so hard that you often said or did something that made the whole predicament worse than it was initially? Have you wanted to change someone so bad that you cried when nothing changed? Ahhh I think we are all guilty of that at some point! We try so hard to change people by our own means and fail to realize that we are not GOD, not even close. We cannot change people; don't waste your time if you were just eyeing a friend or family member with the intention of ranting about something you want them to change. When all fails and it probably will, all we can do for our loved ones that our hearts ache for is pray. Pray that the verse above will be manifested in their lives and that they may be susceptible to the sweet voice of Jesus calling them out of darkness and into light. May this excerpt from my devotional this morning encourage you to pray, pray, and pray some more for those your heart breaks for. Note to self: There is power in prayer!
"For those people who seem to think they've got it all together and actually do no wrong, I pray for brokenness. For those people who still love their sin, I pray they develop a hatred for it. For those who have turned from their faith in God, I pray for a return to Him. I pray that God will give them a new heart and a new spirit and remove their hard heart and give them one that is pliable to the Master's touch."
